Summary of Topflight Specs

Richard T. Fiory, AIA, CCS, began writing construction specifications as a consultant to other firms in 1976 while a partner with Fiory & Wong|Architects, AIA. In 1984 the firm was retained under contract by the Office of the State Architect to provide specifications on State projects throughout California. In 1986 Richard formed Topflight Specs, an independent construction specifications consulting firm.

The firm has experience preparing specifications for all building types. Some of the notable projects are three structures at EPCOT Center in Florida including Spaceship Earth Pavilion and Main Entrance complex and the interiors for the new twin 88 story towers for Kuala Lumpur City Centre in Malaysia. The firm has done work in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington, as well as California.

Topflight Specs generates specifications from continuously updated in-house masters modified to meet client formats as required. We also provide editing of masters as provided by City Agencies, University of California, private institutions, and the military. Our services include outline and preliminary specifications for budgeting and Design Development phase submittals, architectural hardware specifications, complete Project Manual assembly and printing, and development of office master specifications.

Each client and project has different parameters. It is our approach to meet these varied specification requirements and enable our fellow professionals and their clients to publish topflight specifications for their projects.
